Non-Laser PMU Removal Method

Treatment Description:

Chemical pigment removal is a non-laser method used to lighten or remove unwanted permanent makeup. This technique uses a specialised chemical remover solution that is implanted into the skin using a PMU device. The solution binds to the pigment particles and draws them toward the surface of the skin, allowing them to be expelled naturally during the healing process.

Chemical removal is often used when laser removal is not suitable, particularly for pigments that do not respond well to laser, such as light colours (yellow, white, green) or pigments that have shifted colour after laser treatment.

This method can be used alone or in combination with laser removal as part of a personalised removal plan.

How Chemical Pigment Removal Works

1. Implantation of the Remover

A specialised remover solution is gently implanted into the same depth as the unwanted pigment using a PMU device. The solution interacts with the pigment particles within the skin.

2. Binding and Migration

The remover binds to the pigment and creates a process of osmosis, drawing the pigment toward the surface of the skin.

3. Natural Expulsion During Healing

As the skin heals, the pigment and remover are expelled through controlled scabbing. Over the following weeks, the treated area lightens as the pigment is removed from the skin.

What to Expect

Treatment Plan

Multiple sessions are usually required. The number of sessions depends on:

• Pigment colour

• Depth and saturation

• Skin type and healing response

• Number of previous PMU layers

Healing Process

Healing involves controlled scabbing. The treated area may appear darker immediately after treatment before gradually lightening as the scab naturally falls away. Full healing takes several weeks.

Possible Side Effects

Temporary effects may include:

• Redness

• Swelling

• Tenderness

• Scabbing

• Temporary colour changes

These are normal parts of the removal process.

Sensation During Treatment

The sensation is similar to a PMU treatment. Discomfort levels vary between individuals but are generally well tolerated.

Results and Colour Changes

Chemical removal is effective on a wide range of pigments, including colours that are difficult to treat with laser. Results are gradual and depend on:

• Pigment formulation

• Depth

• Individual healing response

Some colour changes may occur during the process as the pigment is drawn to the surface.

Retreatment and New Permanent Makeup

You must wait until the skin is fully healed before any further removal sessions or new PMU treatments. A minimum waiting period of 6 to 8 weeks is required between sessions.

Scarring Risk

When performed correctly, chemical removal has a low risk of scarring. However, the risk is higher than laser removal due to the controlled injury created during the process. Strict aftercare is essential to minimise risks and support safe healing.

Pre-Treatment Care

• Avoid sun exposure and self-tanning for two weeks before treatment

• Avoid retinol and active exfoliants one week prior

• Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications for 24 hours before treatment

• Arrive with clean skin free of makeup

• Inform your practitioner of any skin conditions or medical history

Aftercare

• Keep the area dry for 48 hours

• Do not apply makeup until the skin has closed

• Do not pick, scratch, or remove scabs

• Avoid sweating, swimming, saunas, and steam rooms for 7 days

• Avoid sun exposure and use SPF 50 after healing

• Follow all aftercare instructions carefully to reduce scarring risk

• Allow a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks between sessions

CONSULTATION REQUIRED FOR ALL PERMANENT MAKEUP AND REMOVAL PROCEDURES

Before any permanent makeup procedure or pigment removal session, a consultation is required.

During the consultation, we will:

• Assess your skin type and condition

• Discuss your desired outcome, style, and shape

• Identify any contraindications or medical conditions

• Plan the treatment, pigment choice, and technique

• Provide pre-care instructions and answer all questions

Note: The consultation ensures a personalised, safe, and effective treatment plan. Permanent makeup or removal procedures cannot be booked or performed without prior consultation.
